Dougie just loves these talking toys for dogs so much! I bought him his first one when interactive dog toys were just out – about 4 years ago and if it hadn’t been for the battery wearing out, I’m sure he would still have that original one, as being made of hard plastic, the babble balls are virtually indestructible dog toys. However, the PetQuerks talking babble balls dogs toys are now made using a replaceable batteries (watch battery type LR44/AG13) making them quite cheap toys for dogs – other babble balls and talking dog toys on sale do not have the benefit of a replaceable battery, so this unique feature in the PetQuerks talking dog balls saves you money. If, like me, you’ve bought dogs toys before, you’ll have found that most of them are useless after half an hour and in pieces on the floor or you have to take it off your dog, to stop them getting at some nasty squeaker they may swallow. When I give Dougie the talking dog toy I always make sure his water bowl is not near where he is playing with his talking dog balls so he can’t flip one into the water and damage the batteries – if this happens, just remove the batteries and give everything a good wipe out and it should be fine. The dog balls toy stops talking when it is still but the slightest movement triggers it, as it is very sensitive – I always take the toy and place it out of reach when he’s tired out, as it starts to babble at the slightest movement!
Size Matters – the best size talking babble ball for puppy and dogs toys
Dougie is a small dog and he has both the medium and large talking babble balls. I would recommend the large talking dog toys for any dog the size of a westie or bigger. The small babble ball I would say would be suitable for small puppy toys only – even a larger breed puppy would be better with the medium size (roughly the size of a tennis ball). The large is 7.5cm in diameter, the medium 6.5cm and the small is 5 cm. Remember it is always best to ensure dogs toys are not able to be swallowed.
Replacing Batteries in the PetQuerks Talking Babble Ball
Once you’ve bought your 3 batteries (type AG 13/LR44) you will need a small crosshead screwdriver to unscrew the 2 small screws which are recessed (see picture here) to prevent your dog being able to get anywhere near them, making the toys for dogs very safe. After popping in the new batteries simply replace the 2 screws tightly and make sure you recycle the old batteries safely. This type of battery can easily be bought online for around $4.50 for a pack of 50, so these talking dog balls are relatively cheap toys for dogs in the long run, being indestructible even as puppy toys!
